The exciting brawls in Burlington were a blend of explosive energy and gruelling struggles, showcasing exemplary fighters from all over the globe.
1. JORDAN TECSON VS ISAIAH SHARPE</h2>
FLYWEIGHT BOUT
These two spectacular strikers started with a blocked high kick by Sharpe as the battle in the cage began. The fast-paced Sharpe was taken down early by Tecson on the bout with an attempt at a rear-naked choke.
While Sharpe slipped away initially, he eventually tapped into a relentless submission hold at the 4:50 mark in the first round.
2. MEL ZEMAN VS BRITTANY BICKHART
WOMEN’S BANTAMWEIGHT BOUT
The Australian, who took 4 years off from the cage finished Bickhart in one of the fastest counts in BTC history. Zeman won with a shocking KO after nineteen seconds - her quick jabs and ensuing combinations earned a swift victory.
3. NOAH CROSSWELL VS NATE SMALL
BANTAMWEIGHT BOUT
Crosswell was taken down on his back at the three-minute mark during round one, giving Small the perfect opportunity to slip into the guillotine choke. Crosswell submitted in the first round, earning Small his first victory in years.
4. LUKE ROBERTS VS DAVIS RAPAGNA
LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT (GRUDGE MATCH)
Luke “the Duke” Roberts walked into the cage with a personal vendetta against Rapagna. He started with a running kick, successfully isolating Rapagna against the wall. His legs quickly snaked around his opponent and locked in the rear naked choke. Soon enough, Rapagna submitted in the first round to the submission move, with the “Duke” maintaining his winning streak.
5. MATT SMITH VS NICKY HEINRICHS
WELTERWEIGHT BOUT
Heinrich walked into the ring seeking his first professional win.
Heinrich started strong with an early takedown, searching for the guillotine chokehold.
However, it was Smith who came out on top, connecting with multiple knees to the ribs, eventually leading the referee to call the fight.
6. BOBBY POULTER VS AVINASH CHOWTEE
SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT
The three-round bout between Chowtee and Poulter started with Poulter aggressively taking Chowtee down in the first round.
Chowtee attempted a reversal, with Poulter nearly locking in a triangle choke.
The second round had the fighters in the same position, with Poulter taking down Chowtee right off the bat.
The third round resulted in the two figures struggling to capitalize on one another with jabs and submission attempts. Poulter had an upper hand throughout most of the fight, and the hometown crowd was at their loudest, chanting Bobby’s name. The judges made their decision and gave Poulter a clear victory.
7. MANDEL NALLO VS DEIVISON RIBEIRO
WELTERWEIGHT BOUT
Nallo relied on calf kicks to gain victory over Ribeiro at 4:19 in the first Round. “Rat Garbage” Nallo continues his winning streak with a KO/TKO.
8. KYLE PREPOLEC VS GUSTAVO WURLITZER
LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT
A veteran fighter of 54 bouts, Wurlitzer faced off against the former UFC fighter. Prepolec went in for the high kick early, knocking over Wurlitzer and hammering jabs. The Canadian won at 3:04 on the clock by TKO.
9. TONY LARAMIE VS JOSH SMITH
FLYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Laramie defeated Smith in a TKO after a spectacularly fast-paced 25 seconds in the first round, winning BTC the Flyweight championship. He came out eager to dominate, with a will to win.
Though Laramie slipped up on the mat while closing in on his opponent, he was able to regain his footing and finish with a quick and devastating victory. You could see how badly he wanted this belt, grabbing the title before you could blink.
10. ADAM ASSENZA VS THIAGO OLIVEIRA
CATCHWEIGHT BOUT
The main event of the night acts as only the second match to go all three rounds at BTC 24. The face of the BTC, Assenza, against the Brazilian submission artist Oliveira.
Oliveira missed weight for the catchweight bout at the weigh-in by eight pounds. The Brazilian was able to cut down to a welterweight, but looked two weight classes higher in the cage.
During the first round, Oliveira managed to get Assenza down, but the Canadian slipped out.
Assenza weathered the storm with high kicks.
When round 2 arrived, Oliveira went for the leg, then took Assenza to his back. Oliveira went for a full mount, attempting to smother Assenza to end the round. But Assenza’s ground game and defensive efforts were stifling, and the Brazilian wasn’t able to gain much of an advantage despite getting the takedown.
The two fighters were jawing at one another in between rounds, adding fuel to the fire.
Round three took the fighters back to the ground, with Oliveira barely escaping the ground and pound from Assenza.
The match ended in a draw at 28-28, only the second draw in BTC history.
